Gibbs Import/ Export, L.L.C. (Gibbs ImEx) is a family owned and operated business
headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Although formally founded in March, 2003,
Gibbs ImEx's has over seventy businessperson years of logistics and delivery service
experience. The corporate mission statement is to work collaboratively to move
product from country to country and attain a branding position as the primary export
arm of US Business suppliers of food and agricultural products.
Gibbs ImEx's business plan is supported by the fact that the US is promoting companies
participating in the market to export US products. We have forged relationships
with several government entities, e.g., Department of Agriculture, US Small
Business Administration, Department of Commerce, Michigan Department of Agr ...iculture,
US Export Assistance Center, etc. al. Additionally, Gibbs ImEx has a working
relationship with appropriate US Embassies to qualify local buyers and attain
market intelligence. Support of the US ExIm Bank was paramount to assisting the
company move forward to build a robust infrastructure and partner network.
The day-to-day operations of Gibbs ImEx consists of the principals Maurice Gibbs,
President and CEO, Dorothy Davenport, Executive Vice President, and Freddie
Scott, Chief Business Development Officer, aggressively working to enhance business
relationships with several supportive agencies. Additionally the company is
focused on business development initiatives designed to build a business pipeline
of foreign countries actively pursuing the purchase of such commodities, e.g., rice,
wheat , almonds, dried fruit, dried milk, beef carcasses, etc. To date, the focus is
on areas in the Russian Federation , Egypt , Africa and Asia. The company is flexible
as it functions either as an outsource agent and/or broker for varied sized companies.
The company also operates as a supplier to buyers utilizing the US AID
program.
Gibbs ImEx is approved to participate in the USDA GSM 102 and GSM 103 programs
such as the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Export Credit Guarantee
