General Information
Stomil-Poznań S.A. with over 80 years of tradition in manufacturing of tyres and rubber products has written itself in the history of polish rubber and motor industry.
The Factory at 18 Starołęcka Str., established in 1928, has taken its name Stomil in 1931. Before the Second World War Stomil-Poznań S.A. operated as a joint-stock company but soon after the War it was turned into state-owned enterprise.
On 5th of February 1992, the Commissioner of Treasury placed a declaration of conversion of the state-owned enterprise named Poznańskie Zakłady Opon Samochodowych Stomil into Treasury owned joint-stock . The newly created company has entirely taken the property of the above mentioned enterprise. The companys name changed into the one used ... to date - Stomil-Poznań S.A. (S.A. joint stock), where all 1 894 600 series A shares, are of equal value of 10 pln and solely owned by the Treasury.
In 1994 Stomil-Poznań S.A. was included into a group of companies of great significance to national economy.
In 1998 Stomil-Poznań S.A., together with Bridgestone Corporation established a joint-venture under the name of Bridgestone/Firestone Poland. Stomil-Poznań S.A. has contributed to this venture by transferring its site in Karolin. In 2001 the company resold its shares to Bridgestone Corporation.
Stomil-Poznań S.A. operates according to legal status, developed on the basis of the Commercial Code, accepted by the Resolution No 1 of the Special General Assembly on 14.10.2003. The company is being directly governed by two members of the Board, the Board of Supervisors with its 5 members 2 of which are the representatives from the companys employees and the remaining 3 are designated by the Owner (the Treasury), fulfills the activity control function.
Having the Licence of the Ministry of Interior and Administration (Department of Permits and Licences) no B-043/2008 dated 21.04.2004 valid to 21.04.2054, which allows to manufacture and trade ammunition as well as manufacture and trade military and police goods, Stomil-Poznań S.A. is among other, a very well established producer of national defense and security products.
Apart of the above mentioned Stomil-Poznań S.A. possesses also quality certificates PN-EN ISO 9001:2001 and AQAP 2110:2003.
Products
At present the company adapts almost only its own production technologies, worked out and constantly modified by the companys technological and constructional base. Basic technologies used in Stomil-Poznań S.A. are diagonal tyres production technologies, based on polyamide cords, and are applied in the manufacture of the following range of goods:
-Great dimension tyres for mining machines and earthmovers
-Commercial vehicle tyres
-Tyres for industrial carts (forklifts etc.)
-Tyres for agricultural machines
-Adjustable inflation tyres for special military vehicles
-Aircraft tyres
Among others the tyres manufactured at Stomil-Poznań S.A. are being used in mining machines, industrial vehicles and special cars. The main advantage of bias tyres in the mentioned conditions is a relatively high resistance to mechanical damage and good operational parameters.
Machinery and Technological Capabilities
The bias construction tyres are still widely used with vehicles operating with low velocities, in off-road conditions, with mining machines and industrials carriages, however even in these branches they are slowly but efficiently being forced out by radial tyres. Nonetheless, the bias technology is constantly being improved by the companys engineers, who, in order to meet clients changing expectations, try to update the technology according to their needs.
Within the owned technology the research base creates new ranges of products and work on improving the existing ones. In the past four years 29 new sorts of tyres were introduced to mass production, 17 of which had new sizes and were designed to work in special mining machines.
Apart from tyre production technologies Stomil-Poznań S.A. has also its own technologies of manufacturing rubber-metal goods such as: carrier wheels for tracked vehicles, rubber laps, absorbers, seals, clutch brake and aircraft tubes, flaps and rubber liners.
Basic means of production in the company are machines and devices to produce rubber compounds, semi-finished products, tyres and other rubber goods. Read more
